History&Culture
For three generations, the Wakayama family has grown and maintained this bamboo forest in the northern part of the Kanto Plain. With 60 acres of hand-cultivated forest, the family seeks to expand ecotourism in the region. Comparable to Arashiyama, Kyoto’s famous bamboo grove, Wakayama Farm offers a tranquil escape suitable for guests of all ages.
When purchasing tickets, guests can request to add matcha tea service. Wakayama Farm serves local sweets alongside matcha in eco-friendly teacups made of bamboo. Keep the bamboo cup as a souvenir when you finish!
Enjoy the cool shade created by the towering bamboo from the comfort of a hammock, available for rental on site. Guests may set hammocks up wherever they choose for a relaxing time with friends and family.
An opening in the forest reveals two towering swings made of bamboo. Get playful and take some fun photographs on these larger-than-life playground fixtures!
Wakayama Farm operates a small gift shop filled with unique, locally crafted farm products. Try some boiled bamboo shoots, "Oh KURI" (chestnut sweets), or take home a soft bamboo hand towel to remember your trip!
